Mumbai is home to the busiest red light district in Asia.

It all began in India. In 2007, our co-founders Stephanie Pollaro and Wendy Dailey witnessed the atrocities of human trafficking in Mumbai. Stephanie moved to Mumbai and began working directly with survivors, teaching them to hand-craft jewelry and establishing rehabilitation programs.

Our Mumbai Sanctuary is our most robust Sanctuary. Here, we work with survivors in aftercare homes. Artisans in this sanctuary receive education, counseling, medical care, and employment, enabling them to create a better life for themselves and obtain true freedom.

In 2012, we established The Academy on-site in our Mumbai Sanctuary. The Academy addresses the need to make up for lost education. Whether a woman is learning to read, or is preparing to enroll in college,  The Academy creates custom educational plans for each woman in attendance.

Our prevention program works to serve women living in the slums of Mumbai. Poverty leaves women vulnerable to being tricked into trafficking or coerced into selling their children. As a preventative measure, our Mumbai Sanctuary offers employment and trafficking awareness to this community.

Aftercare

Our Sanctuary is a safe and accepting environment, built around community to provide aftercare for survivors. While here, women and girls receive education, counseling, medical care, and employment, enabling them to create a better life for themselves and obtain true freedom.

Education

Many survivors who enter our sanctuary haven’t been educated past the elementary level. Women and girls receive an education through The Academy to address this education deficit and equip them with the knowledge and confidence they have been deprived of.

Prevention

Poverty leaves women vulnerable to being trafficked or coerced into selling their children. We serve women in the slums of Mumbai by providing them with employment and offering trafficking awareness to the community to prevent the everyday risks of trafficking.

Help to support women and girls at our Mumbai Sanctuary.
