International Sanctuary works with survivors in aftercare homes and at the Mumbai sanctuary center. The sanctuary is a safe and accepting environment, built around community. Since 2007, International Sanctuary has served over 300 young women and girls aged 12 to 25 rescued from sex trafficking. Through International Sanctuary's program girls receive education, counseling, medical care and employment. Survivors are able to create a better life for themselves and obtain true freedom.
International Sanctuary offers a prevention program for women living in the slums of Mumbai. Poverty leaves women vulnerable to being tricked into trafficking, or being coerced into selling their children. As a preventative measure, International Sanctuary offers employment and trafficking awareness to this community. The women employed with International Sanctuary are able to provide for their families, send their children to good schools, and create a better life for themselves and their children.
